Moving Up Day
Thursday is ‘Moving Up’ day when the children will have the opportunity to spend time with their class teacher for next year. For some children this will be the same teacher they have had this year but, for others, this will be an opportunity to meet with their new class teacher and spend time getting to know them.
Moving classes can be an anxious time for children so please do speak with them about this and encourage them to ask any questions they have. We are incredibly fortunate that all the staff at St. Lawrence know the children well throughout the school and this brings huge advantages, especially around periods of transition.
Next year the teaching structure will be:
Ash Class (Reception & Year1) Mrs Clark
Chestnut Class (Year 2) Miss Newins
Oak Class (Years 3&4) Mrs Woodhouse
Beech Class (Years 5&6) Miss Matthews
In addition, Mrs McLauchlan will be working in Oak and Beech Class for one day a week on Thursdays and Fridays.
We are very sorry to be saying goodbye to Mrs Northover who will leave us at the end of this academic year having secured a teaching position at Joydens Wood Infant School. I’m sure we’d all like to wish her the very best for her future.
Additionally, Mrs Waller will also be leaving us at the end of the year and I’m sure we’d all like to thank her for everything she has done for the children of this school over very many years of service. I’m delighted that we have appointed Miss Slaughter as a new Teaching Assistant and she will start at St. Lawrence in September.
